This project was inspired by manor houses in the Dordogne region of France. It's on a 5 acre site in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. F/S was responsible for the exterior and interior design for this project, as well as the exterior hardscape and location and layout of the gardens. The house incorporates a U-shape plan to take advantage of the 360 degree views of the mountains and the LA Basin. The interiors were designed to gracefully accept the owner's French family heirlooms while also creating comfortable rooms for the family to live in on a daily basis. The gardens radiate from all sides of the house creating a variety of outdoor spaces, including a large garden off the Family Room where the family dogs can cool off in their pool and rest in the shade of their own folly.
