Sue Steeneken has collaborated on projects with Elaine Felhandler since 1981. They founded the firm Felhandler/Steeneken Architects in 1993. She has also worked with the award winning architectural firms of Charles T. Young Architects and James Stewart Polshek & Partners.

Steeneken's interest in, and study of, art history and decorative arts strengthens our firm's position where historic architectural knowledge is required. She is further a collector of California Arts & Crafts artwork, particularly by women artists of that era, and of contemporary Indian decorative arts. Steeneken is additionally a painter & photographer and lends her artistically informed eye to every aspect of our work. Many projects have required her to design various sculptural elements including plaster, stone and wood moldings, reliefs and other carved elements.
